It Happened One Night

1) Relate what was discussed in class or the text to the screening.

It Happened One Night was made in 1934 and was directed by Frank Capra. The film was similar to the discussion in class we had about screwball comedy. The action that goes on in the film is just like the comedy that is portrayed in screwball comedy. It was transformed into a movie and was the most popular comedy films. A pampered socialite tries to get out from under her father's thumb, and falls in love with a roguish reporter. It had romance and comedy, which is something people look forward into see because a lot of film don’t have what It Happened One Night, has.

2) Find a related article and summarize the content.

     http://www.filmsite.org/itha.html

It Happened One Night was the first film to win the five major Academy Awards. In the movie a journalist and runaway heiress fall in love. The article stated that the film was one of the greatest romantic comedies in film history. In 1935, the film won an Oscar award for best actor, actress, director, picture, and writing.

3) Apply the article to the film screened in class.

This film was awarded because it was recognized that for its characters and the direction on the film. It was a story that was so real and can relate to the people. People enjoyed it because it was about love and courage. They chose the best actors to portray this film and made a big hit! The article supports my opinion on the film, it won many award because the film was a masterpiece. I understand why people loved this film so much and why it was appreciate for all its hard work and effort.

4) Write a critical analysis of the film.

I didn't expect this film to be that entertaining. I enjoyed the story and realized that just because a film is black and white doesn't mean it will be boring. After reading about this film in articles I saw that this film was awarded many times fir its production. I believe that the movies today can learn a lot from this film.
