In class we watch a film called Stagecoach made in 1939. A clip on John Ford and the rise of John Wayne, Stagecoach became the most influential western movie made. It was hard getting enough money for Ford's movie because of casting with John Wayne. Ford was accused of bullying his cast members but toward the end it was a success. John Wayne became very successful and he has Stagecoach to thank for that.

In the article it explained that Stagecoach
helped Navajio Indians of Mountain Vally and John Ford became
friends. More than 200 Indians where hired for Ford's movie.
Yakima Canutt is known for his famous stunts in Stagecoach. They were
thankful to Ford so they awarded him a title called Natani Nez. It
was civilized Western. The article stated that it was an action film
people have been waiting to see.
3) Apply the article to the film screened in class.
If
it wasn't for the movie I don't think that John Wayne would have become
as successful as he was after Stagecoach. I also think that Ford was rough
on the actors on the set of the movie but I know that he was only doing
that because he wanted a great movie. Even though it might of been hard on
the cast members it eventually paid off because Stagecoach became a bit
hit. The article made me have a better understanding of the movie and what
the director had to do to make it to the top. I realized that it took a lot of
effort and some of the actors were hurt because of the stunts. After
reading the article I have a better view of what it was like making a
movie like this during that time
4) Write a critical analysis of the film.
I enjoyed how Ford helped the Indians have jobs to work in the movie. The Indians became good friends with Ford and it made Stagecoach successful. This is not a typical movie that I normally watch but I'm very happy that I got a chance to watch it. I wasn't bored watching the film it had a lot of action so you are very interested into seeing what will happen next and I think that is what made me enjoy the film the most.
